OCD is the track on which, for the first time ever, you can hear my voice. It appears in the middle, heavily processed and disguised, buried under a rising tide of piano and layers of effects. I was really screaming in the studio when I recorded this and it helped me finish the track. OCD feels like the album’s centre piece to me, a rousing boisterous song that encapsulates the concept of making the best of things; of how I processed anger and frustration through creative expression. As some of you might have guessed, I have a real issue with OCD myself, but in a way, it helps me do what I do. I need it to perform the way I do. So with this track I wanted to celebrate that.
EP ‘Home’ out now
Home, the new EP by pianist and composer Pieter de Graaf, is the sound of reconciliation. A reconciliation of body and mind, to be exact.
